Inspiration: Midnight in Paris

Just saw the new Woody Allen film, Midnight in Paris. The movie is a postcard for the city. To do list item #598- Plan trip to Paris, walk city in the rain.

Without going into the plot, the period outfits are simply amazing. I particularly liked the 1920's flapper dresses and bags. They look so contemporary and modern, yet classic. A well-dressed woman in New York or LA could put on one of the outfits and get compliments all night.

Thinking about the classic look of these dresses took me back to seeing the Smithsonian exhibition on the President's wives inaugural dresses the last time I visited DC. If you have not seen this exhibit yet, you need to. Jackie O's entire outfit would look amazing today as well. Some decades really are timeless.

Grace Coolidge would be unbearably cool today. The train is a little crazy, but look at the sketch in the top right corner to see what the back of the dress looked like.

Obsessing Over: Christina Child Jewelry

Her stuff redefines "preppy with an edge." These knot necklaces are one of our favorite pieces. Interesting mix of old and new, hard and soft, shiny and matte, smooth and textured......

I can see these looking great with a plain t-shirt, Ikat shorts from CJ Laing, simple thong sandals and the R. Williams Claire wristlet in Navy. How would you style them?

Street Style: Boy's Blazer

A simple look done well. We love the shrunken fit of the blazer (from the kid's dept at Brooks Brothers)

Inspiration: Meet Liza

If I ever go into clothing, I'm going to draw serious inspiration from her wardrobe! Our team is in love with her dresses from Calypso St. Barth and Mara Hoffman. Check out her feature soon on rwilliamsny.com

Not only is she extremely stylish, but a great athlete too.
