I was obsessed with Nantucket artist Steven Pitluik's brightly colored satires of Nantucket WASP culture, as well as Alex Cao's gigantic tableaus of American icons.

I sped and blew my horn in Sconset, 2011
Cao composes his giant images (the JFK is about 10 ft tall by 6 ft wide) from smaller images of iconic photographs that give context to the larger image. (the gallery has a magnifying glass to see the smaller pictures more clearly.) In the JFK series, Cao has hidden a candle for the date that Marilyn Monroe sang to JFK on his birthday as well as the image of a pistol. Good luck finding them out of the thousands of pictures of Jackie!

An essay on celebrity.
Planning on visiting their other location in Greenwich now that I've returned to CT via 12 hours of ferries, buses, trains and taxis-
